Road Construction Update

The hum of tractors, the pound of the hammers and the swirl of growth is nothing new for Southwest Las Vegas. The area has seen a massive development of new homes, great schools, amazing park facilities, and new retail shops.

The following information has been provided to Mountain’s Edge by Clark County Public Works:

• NDOT is pleased to announce the opening of the new Cactus Interchange over I-15.

• Clark County will pave Rainbow Blvd between Cactus Ave and Erie as a part of the Cactus Overpass project. They anticipate completion of the paving and opening of the overpass in Nov/Dec. The section of Rainbow from Cactus up to Blue Diamond is a separate project that will advertise for construction next year.

• Paving is scheduled of an additional north-bound lane on Durango Dr. at Blue Diamond Rd., just south of the intersection to help with traffic flow. It is anticipated to be complete by October.

Buffalo Dr., south of Mountain’s Edge Pkwy:

• Clark county is initiating a design within the available easement area on the SE corner of Buffalo and Mountain’s Edge Pkwy. to pave an additional north-bound lane through the intersection. The construction work will be schedule for completion by in-house crews within the next few month.

• A traffic signal has been added to the Clark County design list at the intersection of Buffalo and Mountain’s Edge Pkwy.

• County has declared that overall, most of Buffalo south of Mountain’s Edge Pkwy to Starr is not dedicated public right-of-way nor identified for improvements as a part of the development agreement with the Mountain’s Edge Builders. Off-site improvements along Buffalo and adjacent streets would be constructed as development occurs.
